I was invited by Chehalem Parks and Rec in Newberg, OR to design a mural for their new fitness center. It runs along an elevated jogging track, is 330′ long and varies in height from 7’6″ to 11′. I came up with the concept of merging Joseph Campbell’s mono-myth cycle, the Hero’s Journey, with athletics, showing how deeply myth lives in all aspects of life. It was painted with the help of Caleb Maltsberger and Devin Finley. We primarily used Nova Colors water based paint and completed the project in 19 days.
