Tim Shride Memorial Mural
I was contacted by a corporate representative that was looking for a muralist to design and paint a memorial mural for Tim Shride, one of their team leaders who had passed away. The design was open but they wanted to include several interests that he was passionate about, those being Portland, baseball, and classic Mustangs. The color scheme also had to work in harmony with the existing one. My challenge was to create an interesting composition using these wildly disparate elements.
The baseball diamond holding element came early in the design process, and researching which Mustangs I would use was a fun process (in this case a 1970 Mach-1 and the 1967 Bullitt GT). Choosing which Portland landmarks to include in the cityscape was a challenge, and I decided to abstract their shapes and placement to create a pleasing flow. Of course, I had to include the @fairhaireddumbbell in the design!
In the center I created a representation of the everlasting flame, to honor his memory and spirit. I am pretty pleased with how everything came out, and everyone I met in the process was awesome!
